Saturday, June 28, 2008 --"In the most competitive Sportsman race ever seen at the Kalamazoo Speedway Jeff Ganus made a late race pass on veteran Lou Stremme to collect the victory...

...Ganus was also quick time of the twenty-six Sportsman cars on hand."

Sunday, June 29, 2008 - With a $1,000 prize up for grabs in the sportsman class Saturday night, some drivers got a little impatient at the start of the 50-lap race.

There were two caution flags before the first lap was in the books in the Napa 50, and there were five yellows in the first 10 laps.

When things finally settled down, Jeff Ganus, of Constantine, pulled ahead of Lou Stremme, who led for the majority of the race, to take home the trophy.

"A lot of guys thought they could win on the first lap," Ganus said after the race. "There were a lot of cautions and you just have to be patient."

Ganus, who is also a driver in the late model and modified classes, said the win is his third or fourth big win.

After the flurry of early cautions, Ganus said the last yellow flag, on Lap 42, provided a chance to close the gap with Stremme and make a move on the restart.

"(The last caution) let the tires cool back down," he said. "I saw Lou (Stremme) push a little bit and I just drove underneath him."

With all the eagerness early on, Ganus said he appreciated the way Stremme handled himself.

"I want to thank Lou for driving clean," Ganus said into the microphone for what was left of the crowd after an early rain delay.
